Highlights from Big Data Week in Atlanta

International Big Data Week was April 22-28, and there were Big Data events around the world in cities such as Moscow, San Francisco, London, Shanghai, Toronto and more. Big Data Week in Atlanta had the largest number of branch events in the world with a great line-up of speakers and panels. • Steve Lohr, NY Times – “What is Big Data”? -Steve Lohr is a reporter for the technology, business and economics section of the New York Times. According to Steve, this is the Age of Big Data, never has data analysis and gathering been so important to so many industries.
• Marty Cetron, CDC – “Globalization” -Since joining the CDC in 1992, Marty Cetron’s mission has been to prevent introduction and spread of infectious diseases in the United States. This Monday Martin Cetron unveiled a new application that will allow the CDC to predict and detect areas in the U.S. that are the most vulnerable to outside diseases.
• Nicole Hemsoth, Datanami – “Social Integration” – Nicole Hemsoth is the Managing Editor at HPCwire, the Sr. Contributing Editor at Datanami and the Director of Editorial Operations at Tabor Communications Inc.
